I saw this cool effect, originally done by Satya Meka, and decided to see what else I could come up with. I was short for what exactly I wanted to do as far as how I could use this. Then I thought… maybe a banner? So I gave it a go. I decided to design a banner for the Urban Soul theme. The Idea was to morph into the word “Urban” and then “Soul”, with the morph periodically changing colors. I also rendered the motion graphic banner out as an animation with an alpha channel, this way it would take on the background colors of the webpage.

I definitely loved the outcome, and it kind of was two designs in one. The morphing letters and word waves that scattered about… I almost considered using it as a banner.

So why am I not using it as a banner?

Well since it is a flash video, it is a bit bigger than your average file, so it would take a couple seconds longer to load. If I stuck this in the header file as a banner, it would have to load for every individual part of the site the user visits… I figured it would cause to much loading time, which I would rather do without. Even though it would only be like .5-2 seconds additional loading time… that is still a long time, in my opinion.

Oh well, I will probably just design an image graphic for the banner.
