iMac Problems?… just take it apart!

January 22nd, 2010. Written by admin

My iMac has been doing naughty things to me lately, such as shutting off on me in the middle of heavy processes. I took it to the MAC store to find solution to my problem, but that solution would cost a minimum of $600. So instead I decided to diagnose my iMac myself. Here is what happened.

First I had to start of the iMac expedition with the Cheeky Fat Bastard wine. It really calms the hands and focuses the mind. It also gives you a really good buzz, which is good for the moral >:)

So after the removal of all screws small and a couple of void warranty devices, I reached the heart of the iMac. So basically I just looked really closely at all of the parts to see if anything was a miss or perhaps too much dust had gathered… but I couldn’t find anything. SO I drank some more wine and kept searching until I noticed a tiny little burn mark on my iMac showed in the next image.

YES! A clue as to why my iMac has been failing on me. unfortunately I do not know what it means…. so I took pictures of it to post online on multiple forum sites so that some one smarter than I can help me figure it out.

Here is one more establishing picture of the damage.
